My Fathers name is Paul (37) but everyone calls him 'wig' (his nickname) =
my Mothers called Paula (36) (Her maiden name was greenall) and I have a =
14 year old brother called steven. My dads father (my grandad) is called =
Micheal, he is married to norma (maiden name sixsmith). Paul is one of =
their three children, they also had my uncle, Steven, 38 and Tracey my =
aunt. Steven has 2 children, Micheal and natalie (13 and 16) and tracey =
has two girls Racheal and Katherine, she is soon getting married to =
David Anders. My grandad had two brothers, Colin (died) and Alan, His =

Is anyone related to or know us? does anyone know where the name 'Vass' =
Originated from?

Are we related to the "Fuss" family?

Citation in Boswell's "Journey to the Hebrides"?

My name is Lachlan Maury, Jr. after my father whose father was Siffrien Maury Vass, son of Roslyn Cumming. Vass, the son of James Vass and Elizabeth Brayne Maury both of whom are buried in Frederichsburg, VA ~~James was born in Forres, Scotland in 1770. His father was Lauchlan Vass or Calder (reason for alias unknown) whose wife was Jane Cumming. I know we were septs of the Munro clan and are also identified as septs of the Ross clan. Orrabest to you ~
Lachlan

One source tells me that James Boswell in his "Journal of the Journey to
Hebrides" published around 1780 relates how a highlander named Lachlan Vass "rescued" them from a snow storm. Can any one verify that. I am not located anywhere near a library that would have a copy of that famous piece of literature. Thanks. Lachlan Maury Vass in Bush, LA.

Info on The Hungarian Connection?

Hi, my name is Jeff Vass. My family originates from Hungary and I am =
wondering if Vass' from Hungary are somehow linked with Vass' from the =
United Kingdom? If you have any info on this I would sure appreciate it. =
I'm having a heck of a time finding any info on my ancestors. My great =
grandfather immagrated from Hungary to Canada around 1900(?). My =
grandparents Alex & Mary Vass settled in the Lestock Saskatchewan area. =
Unfortunatly thats about all I know.
Thanks
Jeff Vass

A branch in Surrey?

I originally come from a village called Crondall, nr Farnham, Surrey, =
where the family can be traced back to 1564 in the parish register, now =
kept in winchester. There is now only one vass family in the village, my =
mum & dad. I was a parish councilor and had access to the register of =
burials, which shows that nearley half the village was of vass name =
during the 1800s. My father has a family tree mainly collated by a Len =
vass who contacted him in the 1980s, but Len has not contacted him for =
some time and i am not sure what happened to him, i believe he came from =
London.

Our family originally came from Scotland in the 1500s but i donot know =
why we moved south.

I hope this introduction is of interest.
